Someone thank the Wizard (and Wonderland magazine, at that), because im loving this editorial featuring a smoldering Viggo Jonanson in an ostensibly post-barn-frolic. Newly acquired spiral shaver below. I use it for cucumbers so that I can wrap my sushi rolls with them, but I tried it with a potato, and it started shaving out a long sheet of potato..........You can see I am spinning the wheel so the potato feeds through the blade.

It sort of looks like tissue paper. I'm holding the spiral shaved sheet of one potato in the picture below.. Its pretty long..

This long sheet above now becomes 8 small sheets, uniform in size and visuals.

Flavors; Red pepper thread, prosciutto + red peppercorn, cilantro, and Vanilla. Mr. Adria is well known for his Vanilla whipped mashed potatoes. I thought I could try this vanilla flavor for potato chips...Gross? Maybe. I quite like it. I had never tried Vanilla under the savory context. My plan is to layer these ingredients in between two sheets, sort of like mummifying them or sandwiching them so they are "Trapped".

So you can see in this image I just sandwiched the flavors in.

Baking rack. This is a waved baking rack made especially for baking french baguettes but I used it to create waves for the potatoes while baking them. This rack is also good because it has a perforated wall which lets the steam from the potato disappear, allowing for a crispier chip.

I noticed Cilantro had the most moisture. Next time I will dry my cilantro first.

Sprayed with PAM, and baked at 250 F for 40-50 minutes. Its more like dehydrating and baking at the same time.

You can see I have a very strange fixation with Vanilla and potatoes...

I think these chips are good for snacking while drinking alcohol... before a dinner party. You know, when everyone just starts to get to your place and the food's not quite ready yet but people are eager to drink...I think the potato+prosciutto combo is better than serving Beef Jerky. Why do I sound like Ina Garten right now? I'm much too young to be talking like this and I don't even like dinner parties..

If mug shots still looked this good, I think I'd go break the law just to have a nice portrait done. Again with the form and function and one following the other and all that. These were mostly taken by police photographers for the simple purpose of getting a clean picture of the accused, and a decent full body pic as well, that's it. But, a century and some odd years later, and you got a real nice looking series of artistic portraits. Check out the style some of these cons are throwing down. Breaking the law just isn't as chic as it used to be, now is it?

Last Wednesday (March 11th), people in India and other countries with large Hindu populations celebrated Holi, the Festival of Colors. Holi is celebrated as a welcoming of Spring, and a celebration of the triumph of good over evil. What that translates to in action is an enthusiastic dropping of inhibitions, as people chase each other and playfully splash colorful paint, powder and water on each other. People also attend bonfires to commemorate the story of Prahlada, a Hindu figure and devout follower of Lord Vishnu who prevailed over his father and the demoness Holika with the power of his devotion. "designer Oscar Diaz has designed a calendar that uses the capillary action of ink spreading across paper to display the date.

Each month, a bottle of colored ink spreads across a sheet of paper embossed with numbers, colouring them in as it goes.

Project Description

Ink Calendar make use of the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper to indicate time. The ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are ‘printed ‘ daily. One a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. The calendar enhances the perception of time passing and not only signaling it. The aim of the project is to address our senses, rather than the logical and conscious brain.

The ink colors are based on a spectrum, which relate to a “color temperature scale”, each month having a color related to our perception of the weather on that month. The colors range from dark blue in December to three shades of green in spring or orange and red in the summer."

Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane #106

Browsing through my local comic book store I decided to check out a box of Superman’s Girl Friend Lois Lane. Flipping through the issues I ran across issue no. 106 entitled I am curious (BLACK)! The cover depicts Lois Lane placed into a machine. Superman flips a switch and Lois magically transforms into a black woman for 24 hours. Realizing that this is the ultimate in cheesy comics I had to pick it up.

The story begins with Lois assigned to do a story on Metropolis’s urban area that Lois refers to Little Africa. It seems that all black people refuse to submit to an interview done by Miss Whitey. Young children, old blind ladies, and even people on the street hate white people. With Superman’s help Lois is placed inside the Plastimold and the Transformoflux Pack invented by Dahr-Nel, Kryptonian Surgeon. Apparently this machine is meant to change white people to black people. You have to wonder if Superman uses this machine often?

Disguised as a black woman, Lois proceeds to experience what it is like as an African American. Benny the friendly neighborhood taxi-driver refuses to pick up Lois the black woman. On the subway, the white men stare at her, making her feel completely uncomfortable. Lois eventually meets the radical anti-white black rebel who earlier called her “whitey.”

The radical Dave Stevens, taken in by this fine black woman, is distracted when he witnesses a drug deal going down. Telling Lois to “Stay here! This is a man’s business!” Dave really enforces the social inequality of the story. Refusing to let the gangsters sell their poison, Dave confronts them and is shot during the struggle. Superman, who always keeps his eye on Lois, saves the day flying Dave and Lois to the hospital.

At the hospital Dave needs a blood transfusion but, the hospital is out of O negative blood. Realizing that she can help, Lois states in a very shocking way “I—I’m O-negative!” Here we see the underlying theme of the book highlighted; underneath, we are all the same. After she donates the blood, her 24 hours are up and she reverts back to the white Lois Lane. When Dave awakes to see that Lois is not a beautiful black woman, but the cracker he snubbed, he is at first shocked, realizing then you can’t judge a book by its cover. Superman informs Lois “If he still hates you… with your blood in his veins… there may never be peace in this world!” Luckily for us they all get along in the end.

I fell really stupid seeing i never made a post about the Fallen Princesses Project by Dina Goldstein. It's a truly "magical" collection of photos, not to get to philosophical but it really graps the concept of how the childhood innocence, reality, and media clash.

JPG mag says they will be exibitioned in october this year.

These remind me of a novel i read in 8th grade, Briar Rose. It goes into the origins of these classic fairy tales.. Anyway the Brother Grimm's stories are really worth getting into.

Today i saw a women carrying a Miss Marc tote and was totally jealous, though it was just a simple tote she looked so classy and well though out. Me wantz

Though this dress has a large print it feels very simplistic and versatile, i really like it.

Im super into deep colors like this purple (the picture is just bright) and nudes, Sui's quirky critters make me smile. Which reminds me, im so stocked for the Anna Sui collection for target.

Open Ceremony

I really dig these graphics.. im afraid i'll get sick of it soon. Seeing they been popping up everywhere =/ dido for the intergalactic constellation prints.. (my phychic reading for fall/winter anyway) Lately i been wearing alot of mix-matched florals and prints and stark solid colored outfits.

for $80 bucks its not a horrible deal..
